AIMU Privacy Policy

The American Institute of Marine Underwriters ("AIMU") respects the privacy of the users of its website and those users who become registered members and will only use the data it collects from them as set forth in this Privacy Policy (the "Policy"). This Policy applies to the AIMU website, located at: http://www.aimu.org/. However, this Policy does not apply to any other website, including those that are linked to or from the AIMU website.
AIMU and you agree to the following:
  1. AIMU limits the collection and use of information provided by users and members to the minimum it requires to effectively deliver services and functionality to its users and members. For those users and members who provide their email address, AIMU may advise you about upcoming opportunities, products, and/or services and other items which AIMU feels may be of interest or use.

  2. AIMU maintains a policy of confidentiality and security in the safekeeping of any information shared by users of the AIMU website with AIMU.

  3. AIMU will not reveal or share any user information to any external entity unless AIMU:
    1. is required, or is under the good-faith belief that it is required, to disclose such information by law;
    2. has received user authorization to disclose such information;
    3. has informed the user in previous agreements and/or disclosures;
      or
    4. is acting to defend or protect the property or rights of AIMU.

  4. The only individuals authorized to access confidential user information are AIMU's employees or consultants who have been advised of the sensitive nature of the confidential information and instructed to maintain confidentiality.

  5. AIMU website users may be given the opportunity to become AIMU members by providing a membership fee and registering for an account either off-line or on AIMU's website. All personal information provided to AIMU in connection with the registration process is solely for AIMU's internal use and the member's purposes. All such information will be maintained by AIMU and AIMU will not resell or redistribute the information in any way. Members may review or change the information provided to AIMU or decide to stop receiving email from AIMU at any time by sending a request to: aimu@aimu.org.

  6. AIMU reserves the right to make occasional changes to the Policy. Such changes will be posted here. Users should periodically review the Policy to keep informed of the manner in which AIMU protects user information.

  7. Continued use of this website shall constitute acceptance of all terms now contained herein, or subsequently added.
